Effective Date: October 14, 2026
This privacy policy governs your use of the Chrome Extension "Fewer Tabs", formerly "Duplicate Tab Closer" (the "Extension"). This extension was created by Ben Avramson ("we," "us," or "our").
We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data. Period.
All functionality of the Extension is performed locally within your browser. We do not have any servers that log your activity, capture your IP address, or track your browsing habits. Your data is your own.
To provide its features, the Extension may need to save your settings or preferences. These settings are stored locally on your device using the standard Chrome Storage API.
The Extension also keeps, on your device only, your choice of "This window" or "All windows" in the popup, and a count of how many times you've closed tabs from the popup, used to decide when to show a link to rate the Extension.
While a new tab is loading its first page, the Extension briefly keeps that tab's ID (a number, not its address) in Chrome's session storage, which is cleared when Chrome closes.
This data is either stored only on your local computer or, if you have Chrome Sync enabled, synced to your personal Google Account. At no point is this data ever transmitted to or accessed by us.
The Extension may require certain permissions to function (such as accessing tabs or modifying web pages). These permissions are solely for the purpose of enabling the extension's features locally in your browser and are not used to collect or transmit any of your data.
The Extension does not use any analytics trackers or advertising networks, and it does not send your data to us or to anyone else.
When you uninstall the Extension, Chrome opens a short feedback form hosted by Google Forms, asking why you uninstalled. Opening the form loads it from Google, which, like any website you visit, receives basic technical information such as your IP address. Nothing about your tabs is included, filling it in is optional, and your answers are sent only if you submit the form. Google's privacy policy applies to that form.
The popup shows the icons of your open tabs. Chrome may load these from the websites themselves, as it does for the tab strip.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. We encourage you to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Extension after any modifications to this privacy policy will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications.
